Aaah crap, I just ate a Hello Kitty cupcake! Guess I'm doomed. Guess I should binge eat, drink heavily daily, and go worship Baal. *Sigh* That poor little girl. I don't remember you telling me that story! Ok, so you WERE still Borg, but dang! I remember my 4th Grade teacher called my parents and said that I put an ornament on the classroom tree lol. I was in SO much trouble! (I was always in trouble, so I don't remember what happened)

I'M SERIOUS!!!! If you eat cupcakes you will die at the Big "A"
by Gojira_101 ini was just doing dishes not really thinking about anything in particular, and all of a sudden this experience came flooding back and i started crying.. a few years ago i went back to one of the states i lived in to see/visit my friends (before i learned ttatt, i was still a happy borg at this time).. the friends i were staying with had two young girls, one was 3rd grade and the other was preschool.
so one day the father comes home after picking up the older girl (i think she was 7, 8...i'm not sure exactly this was several years ago) and she was all red and looked like she had been crying.
i noticed she had some blue at the corner of her mouth.

Awesome! Thank you mom :) That is quite interesting. I never went through the Temple endowments because I just didn't feel right doing it. You can't do it until you have been 100% faithful (tithing, church service, calling duties, etc) and at least a year after your baptism. I was not going to do it. I was curious as to the rites that happened. They say they are "not secret, they're sacred", but that just seemed so fishy to me. Makes sense now. Wonder where their rituals in the Temple come from for the Sealing? Do you have any info on that? When you are married (and both people hold a Temple recommend) you get "sealed" to each other, and children to their parents, so everyone in the end is all sealed in one chain of humankind.

For my husband, he knows nothing about cars/engines or tools or fixing things. I need to put everything together, and I do quite well, and enjoy it. We don't have a car because I was tired of doing all of the wife/mother things and working on the car on top of that. The largest parts of the male brain diagram are completely my brain! Plus the typical "stepford wife" OCD issues I have. lol. Only thing is...his brain consists of his 40 hour work week and making sure his shows are downloaded on time. That's it. Total. Oh, and baseball. (Sports are something i thoroughly enjoy as well.) I WISH he had that typical male brain, and more than once every 4 months. We're not even 30! lol

Watchtower vs. the Roman Catholic Church
by Farkel inthe roman catholic church (rcc) religious leaders wear ridiculous clothing.. wts elders wear ridiculous cheap suits.. .
one can wear a beard and still be a priest in the rcc.. one can wear a beard in the wts, but never be an elder with one.
it's bible-based(tm).

!!!!INTERESTING DEVELOPMENT!!!! this morning. Family member hears TTATT.
by Gojira_101 inso my husband's brother called him this morning.
i will call his brother earl (fake name :) so earl calls him out of the blue, hubby hasn't talked to him in a few months.
earl was never baptized and left jw's in his later teens and the family has also thought he was a low life and the black sheep of the family.

It's so refreshing to hear stories like this!!! I'm glad they were happy tears today. I know you both were having such a hard time even just a month ago. I'm glad Earl called and is open to hearing the info.
When I was DF'd (it has actually been 11 years in August now), it was like those exorcism things you hear about, where it felt like something was ripped out of you, but then you felt alive and real. I was never "in", but pretended to play the part, and it was still shocking how I felt like I had heavy chains unlocked from my whole self.
I hope Earl and his wife (and others) keep their eyes and hearts open to the info they receive. I still am just baffled by TTATT (last night was pretty intense just looking around JWN here!). So I'm sure you'll be hearing from them more often. :)

What attracts/draws/pulls you toward some groups, associations, organizations, memberships? What repels you from others?
by StoneWall inin light of whats been going on in the last few days it got me to thinking about what is it that drives us to want to be a part of something and yet reject other things.. for instance for me i highly value words such as truth, facts, honor, integrity, liberation and find that i'm attracted to endeavors which pursue these things.. so for me personally, jwfacts.com was a website i felt drawn to because it appealed just in name only at first, but then the more i read the better i liked it.. but the first thing had to be the name to get me drawn in to investigate.. next i thought of randy's site that i like called freeminds.org.
just the name sounded so liberating,so refreshing from all the control that i experienced as a jw.. also i got to browsing my bookmark page and realized that the vast majority of my bookmarks were mainly sites that dealt with facts such as nasa.gov, various news websites and history etc.. then i started wondering about why there are some websites others liked but i wasn't that impressed with them.. what did they see that was interesting to them or of value in their eyes?.
what draws you to a company/corporation, or a cause or what is it that makes you want to either get involved with something or pass?.

In general, I look for possible friends. With the JWs when I was in growing up, because of the power of my family, I knew SO many people and we were always having company and going out. I didn't have any "true" friends (besides Gojira, obviously) and have found that out over the years. I long for companionship (marriage doesn't count, especially since we are pretty much just staying quietly civil for the kids), so anything that seems to offer conversation, friendship, and different interactions will hook me. (JWN here, as an example.) As soon as things start to seem a little "off" to me, I fade out or just leave (certain online mom forums that are nothing buy childish drama whores).
I think it's the friendship and seeing true joy with groups and people. The local farmers markets are another example. We used to be pretty active in purchases for a few local businesses, and it was a pleasure because you could just see the way they enjoyed what they did. I guess it's just a gut feeling instinct for me. It's not always right (remember, I was Mormon for a bit), but gives me lessons and experiences that I need at that time.
Not sure if that's the answer you're looking for, but that's how I took the question.

Defrauding the elderly ,the following story appeared on ex-jw.com
by raymond frantz inthe following story appeared on ex-jw.com ,before you read it i want to add my own testimony .some years ago there was an announcement at the kingdlom hall to donate money for the construction of a new kingdom hall ,many brothers and sisters donated their life savings and some considerable amounts .ten years later no kingdom hall and the money has long since being transfered to the watchtower's accounts where it earns them a nice interest .amongst these brothers were also elderly ones that could have used this money for their retirement.now the story :".
"i am writing this article to share my personal experiences and to disclose to all current and former jehovah's witnesses that the potential for the watchtower organization to take advantage of their elderly parents clearly exists.
i am specifically referring to the handling of family inheritances, last wills and testaments, estates, family trusts, and the disposition of property and cash assets.. .

I'm with dreamgolfer, go all in. Get em all. That is just awful. It's hard enough to deal with death and the responsibility of taking over matters afterwards, and then add in this crap! How disgusting! Such a sad, pathetic (on the JWs part) story.
